Onewheel AZ 5 Year Anniversary

Table of Contents

On August 17th, 2017, shortly before I received my preorder Plus that would radically change my life, I knew how much I was going to love the Onewheel and wanted to prepare and build a community for other riders like myself to explore and grow together.

Today we are almost 2000 members and have consistently kept growing for a few key reasons:

  1. We are inclusive and inviting to any rider that lives in Arizona or is Passing through.
  2. We have an excellent moderation team that is strategically located around the cities across Arizona. These Mods lead by example and make everyone feel like family.
  3. We LOVE to explore and have fun together.
  4. We champion courtesy and respect for the trails, streets, and patrons that we share them with.
  5. We have a website, Discord, Youtube channel, FB Group, FB Page, Instagram, RidewithGPS Club Account, which makes it easy for riders to connect, meet, and work together

If you reap what you sow, I’d attribute the groups’ growth to the Love we have sowed.

How Will We Celebrate the 5 Year Anniversary?

I reached out to some of my favorite vendors across the community, and the response to offer community giveaways was overwhelming and endearing. These vendors will hold a special place in my heart as they did this as a Thank you to the community for always being stokey and trying to lead with the best foot forward. They didn’t ask for anything in return and additionally kept things flexible to offer winners color/style/sizing choices.

Who Are These Onewheel Vendors that Celebrate Our Stoke?

Xnito Helmets

I reached out to Xnito because they are one of the few helmet vendors with an NTA-8776 certification, which means they protect up to 28 mph. They have rechargeable lights in the front and back for added visibility, and in my opinion, are one of the best-looking Onewheel helmets on the market.

Craft and Ride

Craft and Ride is a Onewheel product innovator that also carries a wide array of Future Motion and third-party vendor gear. Run by the awesome Vitale brothers, they donated one of their Spectrum fenders.

Flux Skinz

Flux Skinz makes sweet rail protectors for all the FM rails. They have a great variety of patterns and colors and can also do customized versions. They donated a variety of model and style rail protectors

Wheel Fun Stuff

Wheel Fun Stuff is run by Kyle Hanson ( El Gato ) and AJ Balanza. They are some of the coolest gents that also help the community with Stoke, Onewheel repairs in San Diego, and sick apparel and accessories. They donated a swag bag of shirts, and other cool WheelFunStuff merch.

This Fun Wheel

Bryan of ThisFunWheel is a rad web designer that offers a bunch of Onewheel resources and cool Onewheel apparel. He was rad enough to donate a nasty Jersey for the OWAZ family.

ArmorDilloz

ArmorDilloz has one of the best Onewheel tire sealants in the game. Cory was awesome enough to donate some Dilloz to the OWAZ stoke!

Wheel the World

Wheel the World offers some cool Onewheel accessories including his One Tool V2 knife with Onewheel tools, which is great for a backpack or belt. He donated some headlamps for the giveaway to keep our riders safe on the night rides.

JO Plates

Justin Ostrim who is a long-time Onewheel MOD makes stainless steel protection plates for the bottom of Onewheels. He was rad enough to donate a few sets of plates and hats

RidewithGPS

RidewithGPS make a super useful map and route tracker and maker. We have their club account and map all of the group rides to share directions and to help new riders have more resources. We also map all the Onewheel trails in Arizona to share with each other. They were cool enough to donate a 1 YR Premium subscription.

The Anniversary Day

While it was raining all around the area, and we thought the event might get soaked, it ended up being a great time and we didn’t get rained on. The day was filled with giveaways, stoke, smiles, memories, and a fun ride with a bunch of AZ riders. I want to thank all the vendors that made this event special and shared and donated to make riders happy. I’d also like to thank Steve Ginter for documenting the event.
